Volumes use average end areas between sections, with an eccentric end-area correction for curvature. Each area is scaled by 1 - e/R, where e is the centroid offset from the centreline, positive right, and R is the signed radius, positive curving right.
▪
On a curve the section footprint overlaps on the inside of the bend and gaps on the outside, so a plain end-area times centreline-length calculation would double-count the inside. Inside the bend e and R share sign and the factor is below 1; outside it is above 1. The factor is clamped to between 0.2 and 1.8 so a wide section on a tight radius cannot go negative or explode. A straight section gets a factor of exactly 1.
▪
Templates are assigned to chainage ranges in the Sections tab. Where the alignment moves between differently shaped templates, link widths and slopes are interpolated linearly across the transition rather than jumping. Assignments need not be contiguous: a gap between two templates with the same number of links is interpolated across, which is how a road widens for a bus stop or slow lane.

Earthwork must be computed at least once before Bake Road becomes available.
