Earthwork and cross-sections are unaffected by the inserted IPs beyond the alignment change itself: the inserted points carry a zero radius, so the alignment is not rounded at the crossing.

An existing IP within 1 m of a crossing is reused rather than duplicated, so running this twice does not litter the alignment.
