DescendingSublists

DescendingSublists
[list]
makes sublists of
list
starting at its left-to-right maxima.

Details and Options

Examples
(3)
Basic Examples
(2)
Split a permutation given as a list into sublists starting at its left-to-right maximum:
In[1]:=
DescendingSublists
@{2,4,1,6,7,5,3}
Out[1]=
{{2},{4,1},{6},{7,5,3}}

The input does not have to be a permutation:
In[1]:=
r1=RandomInteger[{1,7},20]
Out[1]=
{2,6,6,6,2,3,3,3,6,3,4,2,1,1,6,5,3,7,6,4}
In[2]:=
DescendingSublists
@r1
Out[2]=
{{2},{6,6,6,2,3,3,3,6,3,4,2,1,1,6,5,3},{7,6,4}}
Flatten to get back the original list:
In[3]:=
r1Flatten@%
Out[3]=
True
