Finite-element groundwater seepage and curvilinear-square flow nets for dams, slopes, excavations and wells
Contributed by: Malcolm Woodruff
This package uses finite elements to construct flow nets and porewater pressure diagrams for slopes, dams, excavations, wells and trench drainage. Isotropic or anisotropic soils and ground of varying permeabilities can be used. It covers confined and unconfined flow and recharge by rainfall and covers most cases encountered in normal civil engineering work.
To install this paclet in your Wolfram Language environment,
evaluate this code:

After installation, open the "Demo" for the examples, including code, for slopes, dams, excavations, well points, and trench drainage

Example 1 - Sheet pile excavation
| Out[2]= | ![]() |
Example 1 b — Same excavation, two - layer anisotropic soil
| Out[3]= | ![]() |
Example 2 — Unconfined flow through a homogeneous earth dam
| Out[4]= | ![]() |
Example 2b — Zoned dam with a clay core
| Out[5]= | ![]() |
Example 3 — TerraLapsus slope: seepage through a 1:2 slope
| Out[6]= | ![]() |
Example 3b — Rainfall on the slope (raised water table, unsaturated zone)
| Out[7]= | ![]() |
