Inverting Amplifier

An inverting amplifier is an operational amplifier where the output voltage changes in an opposite direction to the input voltage. An operational amplifier (often op-amp or opamp) is a DC-coupled, high-gain electronic voltage amplifier with a differential input and, usually, a single-ended output.

The voltage gain equals the ratio resistances in the amplifier. The output voltage equals the negative of the input voltage times the ratio resistances in the amplifier.
