Renal Failure Index

The renal failure index is used to differentiate between renal and pre-renal acute renal failure.

The renal failure index is proportional to the serum creatinine density times the urine divided by the urine creatinine density. The fractional excretion of sodium equals serum creatinine density times the urine sodium concentration divided by the serum sodium concentration and the urine creatinine density.
