Two Connected Springs in Serial

A spring is an elastic object used to store mechanical energy.

The reciprocal of the spring constant for two springs in a series is the sum of the reciprocal of their spring constants.

Formula

QuantityVariable["k", "SpringConstant"]^(-1) == QuantityVariable[Subscript["k", "1"], "SpringConstant"]^(-1) + QuantityVariable[Subscript["k", "2"], "SpringConstant"]^(-1)

symbol description physical quantity
k spring constant "SpringConstant"
k1 spring constant 1 "SpringConstant"
k2 spring constant 2 "SpringConstant"
