SeepageWell

SeepageWell
[spec,opts]
solves axisymmetric unconfined flow to a pumped well, locating the phreatic surface and the seepage face on the well screen iteratively.

Details and Options
▪
spec keys: "WellRadius" -> rw, "OuterRadius" -> R (radius of influence), "FarWaterTable" -> H (above the base), "WellWaterLevel" -> hw, "kr" and "kz" (radial and vertical conductivity).
▪
Coordinates are (r, z) with the impermeable base at z == 0.
▪
The following options can be given:
"Name"
Automatic
Store the result under
TerraPercolatio
["name"] as well as returning it.
"MeshSize"
Automatic
Maximum finite-element area; refined automatically near the well.
"Points"
30
Number of radial stations used to represent the phreatic surface (cone of depression).
"Relaxation"
0.65
Under-relaxation factor applied to the phreatic-surface update at each iteration.
"MaxIterations"
100
Maximum number of phreatic-surface iterations before giving up.
"Tolerance"
Automatic
Mean phreatic-surface movement below which the iteration is taken as converged; Automatic scales with the far-field water table H.
"Monitor"
False
True prints the iteration history (mean movement and exit-point elevation) as the free surface converges.
▪
Returns the same keys as
SeepageSolve
, with Q in m^3/s, plus "PhreaticSurface", "ExitPoint" (top of the seepage face on the well screen), "DupuitQ" (the Dupuit-Thiem estimate, for comparison), "Converged" and "Iterations".
