Change an Image Background

Choose an image with a daytime background and a nighttime background to replace it with:

Use a Chan-Vese segmentation method to find the background of the giraffe image, looking for colors close to light blue, and automatically choosing the foreground color:

mask=Closing[ChanVeseBinarize[i,{{Automatic,Lighter@Blue}}]//FillingTransform,1]

Out[2]=

Select just the foreground of the giraffe image:

masked=SetAlphaChannel[i,Blur@mask]

Out[3]=

Add the nighttime image to the background:

res=ImageCompose[ImageResize[bg,ImageDimensions[i]],masked]
